Maintaining balance in a world veering toward extremes feels like a fading sensation.

Trapped in the binary logic of "this or that," one cannot easily make a choice, leading to growing  confusion and contradiction. In this state, balance turns into an abstract idea, losing its true meaning.

<Between Dot. and Dot.> is an Alternative Controller Game about finding balance in a binary world. Players take on the role of a wanderer crossing a vast desert, with a child.  physically alternate between two buttons—one black, one white—each controlling a different character. The game turns this side-to-side motion into a core mechanic, making the journey itself the challenge.

These two buttons are more than just controllers—they represent opposing forces, challenging the player to connect them. Pressing the white button moves the white character, while the black button moves the black one. To move forward, you must alternate between them, step by step, keeping a steady rhythm. With each press, sand shifts inside the buttons, creating the subtle feeling of walking through an endless desert.

Can someone raised in the in-between ever truly accept it?

In this game, you play as a lone traveler, a stranger in an endless desert, walking hand in hand with a child. This land was shaped by extremes—blazing heat and freezing cold, forces so powerful they split the very ground beneath you. Here, you and the child are bound together, unable to be apart.

Like a past that lingers, unable to be erased or discarded, the stranger walks hand in hand with a child—a reflection of something long forgotten. Their journey is bound by an unspoken connection. If their hands separate, they are pulled back to where it all began. To move forward, players must guide both characters together, carefully maintaining the space between them as they cross the desert. The child’s presence may feel like a burden at times, yet the journey does not allow for separation. Step by step, through shifting sands and silent spaces, the stranger—and the player—must continue onward.
